Galatians Responsive Reading

I put together a responsive reading from the text of Galatians for our church. Here it is:

READER: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

PEOPLE: Who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever.

READER: We know that a person is not justified by works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ.

PEOPLE: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

READER: When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

PEOPLE: God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

READER: For freedom Christ has set us free.

PEOPLE: Stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

READER: If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

PEOPLE: Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

READER: Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
